More about Portal 2

Portal 2 is a sci-fi first-person puzzle game released in 2011, a sequel to Valve's 2007 Portal game. Players will have to beat the supercomputer GLaDOS on behalf of the protagonist Chell and find a way to leave the abandoned Portal Research Laboratory by solving numerous puzzles.

Portal 2 Review - Plot and Gameplay

As in the previous part, the protagonist is the subject named Chell. At the very beginning of the game she meets chatty and a little nervous robot Whitley, who tries to help her to get to the escape pod, but accidentally turns on the defeated in the previous part GLaDOS.

From the first minute of the game, it is filled with a lot of action and keeps you from getting bored. At first it seems that Portal 2 is very similar to the previous part, but then this impression disappears - there are new trials, in which unfamiliar mechanics are applied. The protagonist still uses a portal cannon that can create rips in space and move to the right point, as well as carry objects with her. Many of the puzzles are thought-provoking, but the complexity is not so high that finding a solution will permanently stall the main plot.

The game introduces new elements that diversify the challenges - these include laser beams with refracting cubes, elastic gels with unusual physical properties, light paths, gravity tunnels and more. New mechanics are introduced to the gameplay gradually, giving players time to get used to and learn how to interact with the environment.

At the same time the gameplay became more dynamic - the heroine has to explore the lab, moving from room to room, and the main storyline is full of unexpected plot twists. But don't be in a hurry to pass the single mode, because you may miss different secret rooms and different "Easter eggs".

Another difference of Portal 2 from the previous one is a co-operative mode with its own storyline, that develops the events of single-player game. The gameplay in cooperative mode is very similar to the single-player one, but the puzzles are more complicated and designed for two people. Also at some point will come in handy feature that allows you to look at the location through the eyes of a partner.

For ease of communication and coordination of the team can place special markers in the test chambers, helping to draw the attention of a companion to the desired object or to encourage them to action. Also, characters can sign to each other with gestures or celebrate the passage of another test by doing a joyful dance.
