Game mechanics, story, and hardware requirements
The game is largely focused on a multi-player co-player experience, so it has four playthrough modes: the story campaign (can be completed alone or by a group of three), "Horde" (five-player playthrough), "Escape" (for three players) and "Confrontation" (multiplayer mode).
The plot of the game continues the plot of the previous part - Gears of War 4. Mankind is fighting a bitter war for survival with a humanoid race of Locusts. A team of elite fighters is looking for rockets on the island that will help in destroying the enemy.
In the story campaign, the gamer can play as one of three characters: the main character Kate Diaz, her partner Delmont Walker, or the robot helper Jack. Missions involve the entire team, and the player can give commands to associates. The gameplay is a typical third-person shooter, with a huge number of enemies, which are colorfully blown to pieces by a variety of powerful weapons. At the same time, there are small RPG elements. Thus, some levels are close to the "open world". Robot Jack has a number of support skills (hacking terminals, stunned enemies, healing heroes, etc.), which must be pumped by finding improvements during the campaign and additional quests. There are additional quests for which you can get skill points, unique weapons, or notes with information about the game world.
In Horde mode, players must repel an onslaught of 50 waves of enemies. Escape mode offers a level that is filled with poison gas. Players must make it to the end of the level before the gas catches up with them. In these modes, it's also possible to upgrade characters' skills.
The minimum system requirements are a 3.5 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, a video card with 3 GB of memory, and 80 GB of free disk space. To play on good settings, it is recommended to use a video card with 4 GB of memory.
