Days Gone to Windows

Days Gone offers the player an entertaining open-world adventure with an attractive post-apocalyptic setting. Some aspects of the game have been redesigned for the better, unlike the Playstation version. Changes included artificial intelligence, and New Game+ and Survival modes have been added.

A World Affected by a Pandemic Virus

The plot was based on a no longer new idea of the zombie apocalypse. Most of the world's population has been attacked by the virus, and many of them have turned into freaks - creatures that look like zombies. During the day they hide in their nests, but at night they go out to hunt and then become a deadly danger. Not all humans are affected by the virus. Some of them managed to survive and gather in groups, organizing survival camps.

The action of the game unfolds on the territory of the American state of Oregon. What is happening in other parts of the country at the time is not said. Early in the game, footage is shown of Deacon putting his own wife, Sarah, in a helicopter for the NERO organization. The main leitmotif develops from this scene. Deacon is trying together with his partner nicknamed "Buchar" not only to survive in this world, but also to find his wife.

Days Gone gameplay features

The player will have to control a hero named Deacon St. Johns - a biker who became a vagabond and chose the life of a wanderer. Throughout the game he never parts with his motorcycle, and a significant part of the gameplay is devoted to riding it on the open world.

The game is a third-person shooter. Popular mechanics like leveling up skills and abilities of your character, as well as crafting and loot are present in the game and take an important part of the story progression.

Traveling around the world and destroying the enemies the player gets experience points for this, which can later be spent on pumping skills. There are 3 main skills in total:

• Survival skill.
• Shooting skills.
• Hand-to-hand combat.

In addition, experience points are earned by completing all sorts of quests from the local residents of the survivor camps.

Gameplay events culminate in battles with hordes of freaks. The locations of their habitat are indicated on the in-game map. The player needs to get to these places and destroy them.

This can be done not only in classic ways, like shooting or melee. The surrounding world itself the developers have built so that its elements can be used to destroy the enemy. These include barrels of fuel, stacks of logs and more. All enemies are divided into three types:

• Freaks (infected).
• Humans.
• Animals, some of which can also be affected by the virus.

Overall, Days Gone is quite a fascinating adventure with lots of unexpected plot twists and dramas.
