Description

Microsoft's OneDrive is a cloud-based platform for sharing files as well as synchronizing them between devices connected to the program. In addition to the simple principle of operation, the application has an equally simple interface: the cloud from Microsoft looks like just another folder in Explorer. The "catalog" interface helps users not to get confused and use the storage as an ordinary folder.

More about OneDrive

The only difference in this case is the status bar, which allows you to track the process of synchronization and file availability. Documents can be accessible only through the network, or the device (computer or laptop) stores an already prepared downloaded copy or the original. In this way, Microsoft storage is more like a tool than a full-fledged application. User have 5 GB of free space available at once, for the expansion of the cloud will have to pay extra (or invite your friends and acquaintances to the application, for each referral link Microsoft adds 0.5 GB to the storage of the invitee).

Features

In addition to the basic functions, such as syncing or just sharing files, OneDrive has some special features. For example, you can find the so-called "Personal Vault" in the app: this is the name of an encrypted folder that can only be accessed with a password code via SMS, email or Microsoft Authenticator. This folder, which is extremely secure and safe, unfortunately only has a capacity of three files for free plans. To get more space, the user must pay.

Security is a key feature of OneDrive. It uses an algorithm like AES-256 to protect user data, as well as the HTTPS protocol. To secure the Internet connection (yes, there is access to files or folders via links in this cloud), the TLS network protocol is used. If the user really wants to protect themselves as best as possible, they can use the BitLocker system built into Windows, which can also encrypt the data. If that isn't enough, the client can set up authentication via his mobile device. Thus, the small storage capacity is fully compensated for by Microsoft's security algorithms.
