WinRAR provides the following features:
- creating archives in RAR, RAR5 or ZIP format;
- compressing documents before archiving, reducing their size with full preservation of their contents (the degree of compression can be set in the settings);
- full unpacking and extraction of the selected items (with or without saving a copy in the archive - you may choose in the settings);
- view data without their preliminary unpacking;
- encrypt files in order to secure them, set passwords for unpacking or viewing;
- work with large files (many other archivers have size limitations);
- create multivolume files that can be self-extracting even on devices that do not have any archivers installed);
- recover damaged files;
- use the automatic separation into volumes (convenient for large volumes);
- using the function of removing the original file after archiving (it allows you to save space and not to leave unnecessary waste on your computer);
- working with the files inside the archive (renaming, moving by folders, deleting, etc.);
- customize the archives to use them by default.
Winrar offers a free trial during the first 40 days of use, then offers to pay a subscription, but continues to work without it. It is considered one of the most popular archivers because of its ease of use, many variable settings, and wide range of features.
