More about Atom

Atom may be an easy-to-use text editor, but it is also one of the most customizable. It is incredibly small and very maneuverable. It's also completely free to use, and the fact that this text editor is open source means that there is a dedicated community of users who create and improve it.

Depending on what you need, these plugins can make basic changes to the core editor or completely redesign it for specialized use. And if you want to make your code stand out even more, you'll find an array of different cosmetic options that also allow you to personalize your experience. For the more meticulous users, you can even customize the layout depending on what languages you write in.

No matter what languages you prefer to work in, you can count on Atom to handle them. Built-in compatibility is available for the main interface languages:

  • jаvascript;
  • CSS;
  • HTML.

But you'll also find coverage for deeper-level languages such as:

  • Ruby on Rails;
  • Python.

Because it's developed by GitHub, you can count on its excellent integration. Given how important the GitHub resource is to programmers, this is a huge plus that gives this text editor an edge over most of its contemporaries.

We'll also find many other solutions that are particularly useful during programming, such as opening new documents in tabs and a handy project file manager, which together allow the user to quickly switch between the documents they're working on.

From the very first moments of working with the application, the large number of available settings is noticeable, which directly translates into the possibility of adapting the tools to one's needs. As the manufacturer itself suggests, the program can be "hacked", which means that knowledgeable people can freely edit its source code, in practice being able to change literally everything, adapting the work to specialized requirements.

It's worth noting that in terms of performance, the program performs very well. Successive documents are loaded almost instantly into subsequent tabs, and switching between them does not cause unnecessary delays. It should not be forgotten that the Atom will also work as a simple notebook, effectively replacing the system offering of such a program.
